X Factor's Jahmene Douglas: 'My Abusive Father Deserves A Chance To Change'

X Factor's Jahmene Douglas has revealed that although the experiences that his abusive father put his whole family through, the contestant doesn't hold a grudge and has even said 'he thinks his father deserves a chance to change'.

The shy singer, who's currently favourite to win the entire competition, has spoken out about his horrific past, with his father Eustace Douglas being jailed for GBH in 2003 after attacking Jahmene's mother Mandy at their family home in Bath, Somerset, before returning to assault her AGAIN when he was released.

The X Factor hopeful tells the Sunday Mirror, "I hate what he's done, but he is still a human being and he needs a chance to change"

Adding, "I am still here and I'm still smiling and that's the most important thing. My happiness used to be a front but knowing I have the power to change things now, I'm getting better."

And Jahmene being Jahmene, he's now said that he hopes his troubled past will ensure a better future for himself and his family.

"I don't have confidence in myself," he continued to tell the paper, "but I have confidence in the power of my mission, which is to raise money for Women's Aid, help my mum, and honour my brother."

What a sweetheart!

Meanwhile, in other areas of the X Factor camp, it seems like teetotal Jahmene isn't so happy with this week's choice of group song.

The singer was due to perform the track with his fellow contestants on Sunday's results show (November 18), but the hopeful is apparently refusing to take part after declaring that he 'won't sing anything that's related to alcohol'. It has forced bosses to find an alternative he feels more comfortable performing.

An insider told The Sun: “Bosses are desperately trying to find a new song for this weekend’s group ensemble after Jahmene’s refusal."

The source continued, “The six remaining acts were supposed to perform 'Last Friday Night' but Jahmene has said no. The song is about partying and drinking and Jahmene is teetotal."

“He has made it clear from the start that he won’t sing songs about drinking and when he heard this track he was adamant he wouldn’t perform it."

Uh-oh! Wonder what song has been chosen instead?
