The results show is probably the part of the competition that the finalists dread, but Simon Cowell decided to switch things up a little bit with the results on the X Factor USA last night by revealing the ranking of how the acts fared in the public vote.

Deciding to add a bit of spice to the results show, co-hosts Mario Lopez and Khloe Kardashian Odom were tasked with revealing who had topped the results poll. Having found out that he had topped the ranking last night, 37-year-old Tate Stevens said:

"Wow, obviously people in America don't get out a lot! Thank you so very much. This is huge."

Following in behind Tate was Carly Rose Sonenclar who came in second followed by Vino Alan (third) and Diamond White, whose found herself in fourth place after making a return to the show following the judges decision to call her back.

Fifth Harmony came in third place with boyband Emblem3 making it in sixth place. Jennel Garcia, Paige Thomas and Lyric145 came seventh, eighth and ninth in the ranking respectively, whilst Beatrice Miller came in tenth place and Arin Ray came in eleventh.

Sadly, the rule of the bottom two acts performing in a sing-off still applied which meant that CeCe Frey and Jason Brock were forced to go against each other in the sing-off.

Having performed their sing-off songs, it was down to Demi Lovato, Britney Spears, L.A. Reid and Simon Cowell to decide who to save.

Demi decided to send home Jason, whilst L.A saved Jason to send home Cece. However, the decision ended up in deadlock as a result of Simon opting to send home Jason and Britney wanting to send CeCe home.

With the least amount of results, it was announced that Jason had been voted off the show.

Speaking after his elimination, Jason said: "I want to say, I did it for the gays and Japan! But I'm really happy to have been here."

Sad to see him leave, Jason's mentor L.A. said: "I'm still proud of him every time he sings. He sings from his heart. He was very entertaining... I'm sad to see him go."

Commenting on the way the results turned out, Simon tweeted: "What the hell happened with the results tonight! If there is one thing I learned if you like your act you have to vote."
