She’s been a firm favourite throughout the competition and tonight, Sam Bailey made her dreams become a reality when she was crowned X Factor champion.
When the result was announced, Sam looked shocked and her mentor Sharon couldn’t hold back the tears.
Sam said: “I don’t know what to say.” She also added that she loves Nicholas McDonald and “he needs to get an album out too, he’s got an amazing voice!” What a lovely lady!
The other judges seemed happy with the result too, with Gary and Nicole standing up and giving the ex-prison officer a huge round of applause.
X Factor Winner Sam Bailey and her mentor Sharon Osbourne
Sam’s debut single is a cover of Demi Lovato’s ‘Sky Scraper’. When she performed it earlier in the show, she received a standing ovation and reduced the judges to tears.
In true X Factor fashion, the winner performed her first single at the end of the show as well, whilst all the other contestants ran on stage for a group hug and confetti poured down!
On the Xtra Factor, second placed Nicholas McDonald told Caroline and Matt: "No one deserves it more than her."
It was also evident how proud Sharon Osbourne was of her contestant as she said: "She knows her craft, she's worked hard, it's her dream come true. She's waited a long time for this."
This is also Sharon's last series as a judge, and what a way to go out!
