Why Beyoncé deserved to win 'Best Live Act' at MTV EMA's 2013

Superstar wasn't present for the award but sent in a video message saying thank you.

Beyoncé may already have a massive seventeen Grammy Awards to her name, as well as a whole host of other prestigious awards, but to add to her growing collection - the singer "snatched" the 'Best Live Act' gong at the MTV EMAs in Amsterdam last night.

Although the Queen Bey wasn't actually present, due to the fact that she was on tour halfway across the world (which is probably why she won), the singer sent in a quick video message to say thank you to those who voted. "Thank you so much for this award!" she begins. "I've been having so much fun on tour, and this is such an honour! I'm literally about to go onstage so I couldn't be there tonight, but have a wonderful night!" she says, attempting to talk over the loud shouts of fans chanting her name, before ending by blowing a kiss to the camera - she's still as humble as ever.

The singer was wrapping up the last date of her acclaimed 'Mrs Carter Show World Tour' in Australia, and is now on a break before she starts the second leg of the USA in three weeks. The 'Grown Woman' songstress beat out the likes of Justin Timberlake, Taylor Swift, Pink and Green Day to collect her sixth EMA award - not to be completely ignorant, but as if there was even any competition in the first place, let's be realistic here.

As someone who's seen Beyoncé live in concert on nineteen separate occasions, not to mention nine times (out of eleven) on her recent UK leg of the Mrs Carter Show World Tour (It's a very long, but amazing story), I have no doubt that the award went to the right person. I mean it's Beyoncé; if you've seen her live you'll know exactly what I mean. All other factors aside, I'll even go as far to say that she's one of the greatest performers of all time, if not the greatest ever. And that's not because I'm biased, you have to have witnessed her perform to understand the full extent.

Who else will remain singing and dancing whilst falling down stairs, getting pulled offstage by fans, performing in torrential downpours of rain, whilst getting her hair trapped in an electric fans, whilst crowdsurfing all over the place… the list is pretty much endless. No wonder tickets for her world tour sold out in a matter of seconds.

The inspiration you get from seeing Beyoncé perform live is incomparable. Nothing and no one comes close, the atmosphere is euphoric, the scenes are chaotic, the performances are triumphant and empowering, the vocals are outstanding, the emotion is impeccable, the interaction is irreplaceable, the moments are ultimately remember-able - you are honestly able to forget everything during those two hours, it's unmatched. To add to that, she's also the most hard working, I've never seen her 'tired' as such, yet the Mrs Carter Show World Tour has been relatively, consecutively non-stop since March, and although the USA leg ends in December. The tour is not ending there…

It appears Mrs Carter has got further tricks up her sleeve… But we'll have to wait and see what. But in the mean time, rest assured she's definitely the greatest performer of our generation.

Shehnaz Khan has a slight addiction to concerts, gigs and just music in general. You'd usually find a lot of Beyonce and Rihanna on her iPod, along with the usual R&B, HipHop and Rap. You definitely wouldn't find any 'heavy metal' or shouting whatsoever, because Shehnaz would ideally like to keep her hearing intact. Follow Shehnaz on Twitter.
