Whilst American Idol bosses are pleased with new addition to the panel Mariah Carey, it appears that there are a few fans of the show who aren't exactly jumping for joy.

Following the announcement that Mariah Carey would be replacing Jennifer Lopez on the panel when the show returns next year, it didn't take long for fans to take to Twitter and air their opinions.

Questioning the show's bosses decision to hire Mariah for the show, one fan tweeted:

"Mariah Carey? Really? It's 'American Idol' not 'American Idle'", whilst another fan wrote: "Mariah Carey is gonna be p****d when she finds out she can't judge 'American Idol' while sitting on a unicorn or taking a bubble bath."

Deciding to boycott the show after finding out that the 'Heartbreaker' star was going to be judging the hopefuls on the show, one fan tweeted:

"Mariah Carey is the new judge on American Idol which gives me all the more reason to not watch another season of it."

However, it appears that there are also fans who cannot wait to see Mariah appear on the show, with one writing: "I'm so glad they finally made Mariah Carey one of the American Idol Judges... :-)"

Believing that Mariah will be better than her predecessor, Jennifer Lopez, another fan posted: "Just read that Mariah Carey is interested in being a judge on American Idol. That's an UPGRADE from J.Lo. Mariah actually has good songs."

What do you think? Will Mariah be a good judge on American Idol?
