The Wanted singer Nathan Sykes is unsure about his appearance at the Capital FM Summertime Ball this weekend, admitting that there is a possibility he may have to pull out.

The singer recently underwent throat surgery for an haemorrhaging nodule that appeared on his vocal chords earlier this year. The youngest band member has confessed he would be "gutted" to miss the performance, and is hoping for the go-ahead from his doctor.

“It's been quite a tough last couple of months I started struggling when we were filming the TV show and we were recording a bit of the album as well, and it just got worse and worse really and then we did a gig in the Bahamas and my Doc gave me a ring and he just said we literally have to operate now or its going to get so much worse so I flew back to LA and I was operated on the next day to remove a haemorrhaging nodule,” Nathan revealed to Capital FM.

“It wasn't pleasant but the operation went as good as it could have apparently and I've just been resting and focusing on tying to get better,” he added.

The Wanted's manager Scooter Braun recently claimed it was highly likely that Nathan would make an appearance at the Summertime Ball on Sunday, however, the 20-year-old says it's doubtful.

“You know what I read that on Twitter as well and I didn't have a clue about it - I was like 'where has this come from?' - and then was like 'Oh wait its come from our manager - OK cheers Scooter!'” Nathan said.

“You know what I'd love to be there, we've been lucky enough to perform at every Summertime Ball so far so I'd be gutted to miss it but I've got to take each day as it comes. I've had good days and bad days, days when I've tried singing and its been back to what it was and then had days when its been like I'm going backwards again but I'm having speech therapy and vocal coaching to try and get the strength back.”

We hope so, Nathan! The Wanted will be opening the Capital FM Summertime ball on Sunday the 9th of June.
