Meet Franko Fraize, a witty, yet unassuming rapper from Thetford who already has the likes of Radio One DJ's Fearne Cotton and Huw Stephens backing his earnest endeavours. Not to mention former The Streets' frontman Mike Skinner, who was so impressed by the MC that he recently invited him to support his latest outfit, The D.O.T on tour.
After previously having his earlier single 'Watch How I'm Moving' playlisted on Radio One as well as having his video for 'Hand Me Downs' chosen for the BBC Music Video Festival where it was broadcasted on big screens across the UK (alongside the likes of Ed Sheeran, Rudimental and Will Young) - Franko Fraize is now preparing to unveil his newest release, 'Treasures'.
One thing that automatically struck me was the way Franko puts an honest spin on his music, it's very British - yet it's definitely hip-hop. Painting modern day pictures of life and culture without being misled or influenced by other, incoherent topics seems to be his style, it's steered far away from the glamourising of guns, wealth and other faux and artificial topics. "I'm a man from a small town in England called Thetford - and I make music mostly about my small town in England called Thetford." He said, and he wasn't wrong there… It's tales of life and honest storytelling at its finest.
'Treasures' is Franko's latest offering and features singer-songwriter and pianist, Kamilla Lovett, who helps the lyricist portray the story of a relationship, from the good and the bad to the ups and downs. From when you hate your other half to the point that you want to pack your bags and leave, to the point when you find yourself running back to making it up. 'Treasures' tells the story of all the trials and the triumphs of relationships, automatically resonating with the majority of our generation.
The video for the track was released earlier last month, and has already been added to popular playlists on the likes of TV channels Flava and Channel AKA.
Not bad for an artist who's currently unsigned - and if he carries on like this, it's certainly not going to remain that way for much longer.
'Treasures' is set to be released on iTunes on December 15th.
