Screenwriter: Mel Gibson 'Badly Needs Help'

Screenwriter: Mel Gibson 'Badly Needs Help'

Screenwriter Joe Eszterhas has defended his decision to release an audio clip of Mel Gibson during an angry tirade by saying that Gibson "badly needs help".

Last week it emerged that the screenwriter penned an nine-page open letter to the shamed actor, accusing him of using anti-Jewish slurs and using him to improve his image by agreeing to work on 'The Maccabees' - a movie centred on the Jewish revolt.

The film project has since been delayed and Eszterhas claims that Gibson was behind it, an accusation that the 'Braveheart' actor slammed as an "utter fabrication".

Now Eszterhas has released an audio of Gibson allegedly shouting and screaming at the screenwriter and his ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva using profane language.

The recording which was released by The Wrap, shows how Gibson blew up when Eszterhas didn't deliver the first draft of their movie. In the rant recorded by Eszterhas's son, he shouts: "I go to work, you're getting paid, I'm not! S**t! I am earning money for a filthy little c**ksucker who takes advantage of me!"

Talking about his decision to release the tape, the screenwriter said: "The bottom line is it shows to me he badly needs help. My interest isn't to damage him with this tape but to prevent damage being done to others, starting with Jews, including Oksana and now, I'm sure, me."

He continued: "I strongly believe that unless he seeks and receives some kind of psychiatric help, someone is going to get hurt."

"I know how frightened we all were. No one has the right to treat another human being that way. This tape shows him the way he really is," Eszterhas added.
