Russell Brand And Kate Moss Set To Perform At Olympic Closing Ceremony

The Olympics is a chance for the UK to show off the best of British so we are slightly confused at how Russell Brand has managed to worm his way into the closing ceremony especially as he recently attacked the London 2012 games claiming it was going to be a “balls up”.

According to the Daily Star leaked details of the ceremony reveal that the 37 year-old will be singing two songs alongside comedy duo French and Saunders and with his previous drug addictions and reputation for outrageous behaviour is a surprise choice to represent the country.

A source admitted last night: “No-one knows if Brand can sing and his drugs past makes him a surprising choice for an occasion that’s all about health, sport and keeping fit. He could well clear the stadium.”

The song choices for the bizarre performance are said to be Beatles' classic 'I Am The Walrus' as well as Sex Pistols hit 'Pretty Vacant'.

Other controversial celebrities hitting the stadium are Naomi Campbell, 42, Kate Moss, 38 and George Michael, 49 who have all had well documented problems with drugs and in the case of Naomi and George have criminal convictions under their belt.

The ceremony, set to bring the games to an almighty climax on August 12 will also feature Jessie J, Tinie Tempah, One Direction and the Kaiser Chiefs who have all been tipped to perform.

The Queen has yet to confirm if she will be going along and with Russell Brand recently attacking the monarchy and the Diamond Jubilee we wouldn't be surprised if she gave it a miss.

In a recent interview in the US Russell, who now lives fulltime in Los Angeles gave his opinion of the London Games, telling Conan O'Brien: “I like England and I am from there. But when it involves organisation it is going to be a right balls up,”

“Things will catch fire and people will be tripping over things, then it start raining and the Queen will do a fart.”

Going on to give his view of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations earlier this summer, he added: “People need to have things to celebrate otherwise people realize we are oppressed and unable to express ourselves freely because we are at the behest of all these corporate entities. So yeah they have a party to distract us from the fact we are being tyrannised."

What do you think? Is Russell the perfect ambassador for British sport and talent?
