The Rolling Stones are set to feature in a new documentary,'Crossfire Hurricane', that will celebrate the 50th anniversary of rock legends by looking back on their incredible career.

Set for release in October, 'Crossfire Hurricane' is named after the opening lines of 'Jumping Jack Flash', one of their best loved singles.

Director Brett Morgan claims that the film will be “an aural and visual rollercoaster ride”.

“'Crossfire Hurricane' invites the audience to experience firsthand the Stones' nearly mythical journey from outsiders to rock and roll royalty. This is not an academic history lesson."

As well as exclusive, never before seen footage, 'Crossfire Hurricane' will feature commentary from Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Ronnie Wood and former members Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor.

The film will screen in selected cinemas across the UK, and will later appear on BBC2 and American channel HBO.

The October/ November release of Crossfire Hurricane ties in with rumours that The Rolling Stones  will play four gigs between London and New York at the end of this year.

The legendary rockers are said to have planned the shows in November with two dates at London's O2 Arena and two at the Barclays Centre in Brooklyn, reports Billboard.

The gigs are said to have been planned by Richard Branson and Australian promoter Paul Dainty, who will shed out $25 million (£15.8 million) to the band for the mini-tour.

Frontman Mick Jagger confirmed last month that the band were planning on announcing a number of live shows to mark their 50th anniversary.
