It appears that no matter how much we want to hear the announcement that Prince William and Kate Middleton are expecting a baby, we'll just have to remain patient after it was revealed that the Royal couple will not be "rushed" into having a child.

Giving his opinion on Channel 5's TV feature, Wills and Kate: Baby Fever which aired tonight, 5 News' Royal Correspondent, Simon Vigar believes that the couple won't be pressurised into starting a family.

He said: "2012 was always going to be very unlikely to be the year of the Royal baby. It's just way too busy with the Jubilee, the Olympics, the Paralympics and the various tours they are all doing.

"Prince William is his own man and he was going to control when he got married and as much as he can, will control when they have children. He is not going to be rushed by anybody else. He has a stubborn streak and he is certainly not going to do anything because of external pressure from the media.

"As much as you can, they have mapped this out so 2012 was the year of the Duchess of Cambridge taking on public duties on her own but also alongside the Queen and alongside William as well."

Commenting on the excitement that the news of a Royal baby, Royal editor of the Sunday Express, Camilla Tominey said on the feature: "I think there will be a lot of excitement about the notion of a royal baby not just in Britain but across the whole world."

Believing that part of Kate's attraction to Prince William was due to his mother Diana, the Princess of Wales' way of raising her children, Daily Mail columnist Amanda Platell also said on the feature: "I'm sure that's part of the attraction of Kate to William, that she wants to have a normal family and he loves it."
