Made In Chelsea fans were left stunned after Monday night's jaw-dropping episode, which saw Louise cheat on her boyfriend Jamie Laing with his friend and Made In Chelsea co-star Spencer Matthews, while the pair were holidaying in Dubai for her birthday.
Things got serious for the young reality star as her Twitter feed received a torrent of abuse and death threats after the scene aired, which led to the Made In Chelsea cast coming to the socialite’s rescue by revealing that the kiss with Spencer was purely for entertainment purposes on the show.
Louise herself tweeted: “I did not sleep with my boyfriends best friend. I think there's been a big misunderstanding, I did not step on jamie laings heart” [sic].
Adding: “I do not condone cheating, but those who agree that death threats are more acceptable should be in padded rooms.”
Made In Chelsea co-star Jamie Laing defended his friends on Twitter, writing: “Guys sometimes you can't help what the heart feels... Sending threats to @LouiseAThompson and @SpencerGeorgeM shouldnt happen.”
On-screen love rat Spencer Matthews retweeted Jamie Laing’s tweet, as well as series of other posts which hinted that the plot line was fake and to add drama to the show.
These included: “This is a classic moment when ‘some scenes have been created for entertainment purposes’ springs to mind” and “I love u guys xwhy do people not realize tv producers portray people in a bad light to create a bad guy for their story line !” (sic).
Appalled by the public treatment of his sister, Louise’s brother Sam also took to the site to tweet her: “Wow. People are pratts. Love you sis.”
