St James' Palace confirmed the good news yesterday after Kate was admitted to hospital  suffering from acute morning sickness known as hyperemesis gravidarum - with it being claimed that the 30-year-old's pregnancy is still in the early stages.

Prince William was by his poorly wife's side yesterday and was photographed looking tense as he left the hospital at 8.20pm last night.

While details about the pregnancy are naturally being guarded, it has been speculated that the married couple may be welcoming two heirs, as specialists have revealed their is a strong possibility Kate could be carrying twins.

Dr. Ashley Roman, a professor and OB/GYN at New York University Langone Medical Center told ABC news that mothers expecting twins are more likely to experience the condition, with a 7.5 percent higher risk.

Despite Kate's fragile condition, the press have been out in full force with pictures emerging of dozens of media outlets lining the pavement outside the hospital hoping to catch a glimpse of the mother-to-be.

We hope Kate makes a speedy recovery.
