We're all aware of the X Factor curse and finalist James Arthur recently blasted male winners in particular for their 'rubbish albums', but former winner Matt Cardle has since hit back at these claims, saying that 'he's disappointed that the contestant has slagged off his work and his career.' Uh-ohhh!
Previous champions Shayne Ward, Joe McElderry and Matt Cardle have been labelled flops since departing Simon Cowell's SyCo label, despite achieving reasonable record sales following their victories.
According to The Mirror, James said: "I find the statistics ridiculous, the blokes that have won before have had a niche, they haven't sold records because they haven't made great albums. That's the bottom line."
"This show has evolved. If either me or Jahmene won, the albums will be good and they will sell. There's creative control this year, there hasn't been that before."
However, not one to take these insults lying down, Matt has hit back via social networking site Twitter, saying that 'not only has James slagged off him, but also the producers that help with the albums.'

The 'Run For Your Life' singer tweeted: "I think you are so talented bro and I really hope you win tonight, but you haven't sold 2 million records... yet..."
Before adding, "… you haven't had two Top 10 albums… yet. So disappointed you're slagging off my work and my career."
"you're not just slagging me off, but Eg White, Biff Stannard, Steve Booker, and so many other incredible writer producers"
And finishing up his Twitter rant by saying: "I appreciate everyone's opinion. I've ALWAYS said James is an amazing talent but today he has slagged off my work in the press.Disappointing"
Oh dear! Wonder what James will have to say back to that?
