Reese Witherspoon's arrest for disorderly conduct over the weekend following a drunken argument with police, was shocking enough, but her mugshot in which the star looks down, her eyes closed and appears to be grinning has caused further surprise.
The actress who has since released a statement claiming she was "deeply embarrassed" by her behaviour was cuffed and arrested after arguing with police, appears to be almost laughing during her mugshot, not even looking at the camera.
It's quite out of character to see the mum of three, who is better known for hitting church with her children, behaving all Lindsay Lohan, but the defiant look in her mugshot, taken soon after her arrest, certainly doesn't resemble the squeaky clean star who has charmed Hollywood.
The mugshot taken appears as if the actress finds the whole incident amusing, but according to body language expert Judi James the faux bravdo was the star's way to cover her embarrassment and shame during the situation.
She told EntertainmentWise: "Reese may have thought she was being rebellious by looking down and dropping her head for this mug shot and I am mildly amazed she was allowed to do it as I thought the idea is to get an ID from things like eye colour etc, however these gestures are cut-offs, ie a desire to hide and the fact she's performing them hints at a large portion of shame."
James continued: "The smile looks like another act of bravado. She might be implying its all a bit ridiculous but overall her signals suggest her confidence is on the wilt."

Reese reportedly questioned whether they knew her name after they pulled over the Oscar winning actress while she was driving with husband, agent Jim Toth, after spotting him driving erratically, Variety reported, in the early hours of Friday morning in Atlanta.
After failing a sobriety test he was arrested but not before mum of three Witherspoon had also got herself in trouble after she refused to stay in the car.
The police report records that Toth blew a .139 (the legal limit in Georgia is .08). Witherspoon allegedly became increasingly agitated and "began to hang out the window and say that she did not believe that I was a real police officer," according to the report. Once Toth was arrested, Witherspoon then exited the car and was instructed to get back in.
With her husband trying to calm her down, "Mrs. Witherspoon asked, 'Do you know my name?' I answered, 'No, I don't need to know your name.' I then added, 'right now.' Mrs. Witherspoon stated, 'You’re about to find out who I am,' " the police report states.
After spending some time in a cell, the couple were released on Friday morning at 3.30am, with a court appearance scheduled for today, though the pair are not expected to attend.
Apologising for her behaviour, the mother of three said in a statement: "I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said,
"It was definitely a scary situation and I was frightened for my husband, but that is no excuse. I was disrespectful to the officer who was just doing his job. I have nothing but respect for the police and I'm very sorry for my behaviour."
