Leonardo DiCaprio’s Wolf Of Wall Street Cuts Explicit Sex Scenes To Avoid Dreaded NC-17 Rating

30 November 2013

Seems Leonardo DiCaprio’s party boy Jordan Belfort was having a little too much fun in the first cut of Martin Scorcese’s Wolf of Wall Street.

The film’s director and Paramount Pictures negotiated down the initital NC-17 rating with the Classification and Ratings Administration Board to secure an R-rating, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

No specifics of the cuts made were given although the original high rating was due to “abundant, explicit sex (not to mention drugs).”

The movie is based on the memoir by the actual Jordan Belfort and details the rise and fall of the Wall Street broker, who was eventually indicted for securities fraud and money laundering in 1998.

Wolf marks the fifth time Martin has directed Leo. Their previous collaborations include Shutter Island, The Departed, The Aviator and Gangs of New York.

Martin almost broke his own record for longest film with Wolf of Wall Street. The film will be the longest of the 2013 Christmas season. It falls one minute short of Martin’s 1995 Casino, starring his other muse, Robert De Niro.

The film’s premiere date was pushed after the first cut came in at well above three hours, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Wolf of Wall Street now opens on Christmas Day and also stars Jonah Hill and Matthew McConaughey.
