Opera singer Katherine Jenkins dreams of playing sex symbol Marilyn Monroe in a West End musical. The beautiful blonde has always had a thing for the 'Some Like It Hot' star.

She told the Daily Telegraph newspaper, "I would love to play her. I have always loved her. I collect things and I read everything about her."

The Welsh mezzo-soprano has channelled some of Monroe’s famous outfits and shadows the short blond curly hairdo. She resembled Marilyn Monroe at a charity ball at the Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills last year in a gorgeous gold floor-length gown.

Marilyn Monroe has been an iconic sex symbol for over five decades, but tragically died from an overdose in 1962 at the age of 36.

The American beauty has been revived in a number of projects in recent years including Oscar-nominated 2011 film 'My Week with Marilyn' and TV hit Smash, which is based around the creation of a Broadway musical about the actress.
