Kate Middleton, Duchess Of Cambridge: 'Sweet' Prince George Charms Balmoral Guest During Weekend Visit

24 September 2013

Prince George might only be eight weeks old but clearly he's already got the knack for winning over foreign dignitaries as the prime minister of New Zealand, John Key, has gushed over the little Prince after meeting him at a weekend break at Balmoral. Parents Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William took their son for his first visit to the royal summer residence last week, where he won over the Kiwi who was also visiting.

It seems baby George, who is third in line to the throne, is already honing his schmoozing skills and as a member of the royal family it's something he'll have to get used to. Gushing over the newest member of the royal family, Key admitted the prince was a "sweet" child.

“He’s a very sweet, bonny little baby," he told reporters following the visit, according to Yahoo New Zealand.

Key, who was a guest of the Queen's for the weekend, admitted he'd tried to use the visit to persuade Kate and Wills to make a trip to his native country.

“Yes we discussed with them, obviously they’d be most welcome to pay a visit. Obviously that’s subject to their diary.”

“I know that the Duchess is very keen to come to New Zealand,” he went on. “She hasn’t been before, the Duke’s been on a number of occasions. So hopefully he’ll return some time soon.”

William has previously revealed he and Kate are intending to make their first official trip together to Australia next year and are taking baby George.

There was no sign of the newborn on Sunday though as the couple headed to church with the rest of the royal family.

The visit to Scotland has given the couple the first chance to introduce George to his great-grandfather Prince Phillip, Duke Of Edinburgh. The Queen met the Prince shortly after his birth at Kensington Palace while the Duke was recovering from surgery which meant he couldn't join his wife.
