How Will Kate Middleton, Duchess Of Cambridge Celebrate Her 32nd Birthday?

7 January 2014

Kate Middleton will turn 32 on January 9 but how will the Duchess of Cambridge be celebrating her big day? In the past the royal has sneaked away on a romantic getaway with husband Prince William or gone partying with sister Pippa but as a new mother, it sounds like this year's celebrations could be a more low key affair.

The Duchess normally surrounds herself with friends and family for her big day, preferring to celebrate quietly especially with her big day coming just a couple of weeks after the hectic royal Christmas at Sandringham.

Hello! magazine report that Kate will most likely spend her 32nd enjoying her new home at Kensington Palace with William and their six-month-old son Prince George. With the Duke of Cambridge starting his ten week agricultural course at Cambridge University this week, he's got a busy few days leading up to his wife's birthday.

In past years though, William has gone all out with thoughtful gifts for Kate, presenting her with pearl earrings and a romantic break in Scotland back in 2009.

Back when the couple were just dating, William surprised his girlfriend with a romantic candle-lit supper in a remote log cabin on the royal Balmoral estate in Scotland. Kate's birthday fell just before the prince was due to begin an intensive phase of military training, making sure the pair enjoyed some quality time together before a long period apart.

Last year William treated Kate, her parents, brother James and sister Pippa to a night out at the Royal Albert Hall to see a Cirque de Soleil show, with seats in the Royal box, naturally. Kate's 31st fell weeks after the announcement that she and William were expecting Prince George, with the Duchess battling severe morning sickness.

Back to this year and there have been rumours that William has something extra special planned. After meeting Taylor Swift at a charity event at the end of last year, reports suggest that the prince has asked the US chart-topper if she's available to meet his wife as a birthday gift.

William met Taylor at a do he hosted at Kensington Palace in November for homeless charity Centrepoint, of which he is patron. Taylor performed at the bash, with Wills soon getting on stage to belt out a Bon Jovi hit with the singer and Jon Bon himself.

It sounds like William had a great time with Taylor and now wants to invite her back for another meeting, especially as Kate wasn't at the Centrepoint gala.

"William's been trying to get Kate's surprise sorted for 9 January when she turns 32," a source has told Closer Magazine. "When he met Taylor Swift recently he asked her if there's any likelihood she's in the UK for the New Year, or just after, because he knows Kate's a fan and she's love to meet the singer."
