Joe McElderry Beats JLS, One Direction, Little Mix To 'Greatest X Factor Act' Title

Joe McElderry has been voted the greatest X Factor act of all time, beating best-selling artists such as Leona Lewis, JLS, One Direction, Little Mix and Alexandra Burke.

The show's season six champion, who last week scored his third Top 10 album, secured 26.6% of 27,000 votes in a poll by Digital Spy.

One Direction and Cher Lloyd, the acts used to anchor the USA edition's advertising campaign as an example of worldwide stars created on the show, didn't even make it to the final round of voting.

Joe ran the Great North Run (WENN)

Matt Cardle, who won season seven, came in second with 25.6%, and Leona Lewis was a hairline behind on 25.3%.

JLS were a distant fourth on 10.7%, whilst Alexandra Burke collected 5.6% and Little Mix polled 4.7%.

Steve Brookstein won 1% and season four champ Leon Jackson mustered a lowly 0.8%.

Other acts who were eliminated before the final included Diana Vickers, Rebecca Ferguson, Shayne Ward, Jedward and Wagner.
