Jennifer Hudson and fiance David Otunga have picked up the planning of their upcoming wedding in the aftermath of William Balfour's murder conviction.
The Dreamgirls actress and wrestler David were forced to put their wedding plans on hold in 2008, following the shocking murders of Jennifer's mother Darnell, brother Jason and seven-year-old nephew Julian.
However, with Balfour finally being brought to justice for the horrific crimes earlier this month, Jennifer and David are going full steam ahead with their nuptials.
"Jennifer feels she can now close the door on that terrible chapter in her life and start again by planning a wedding - and that her late mother would approve," a family insider told The National Enquirer.
"She said she couldn’t have a celebration like a wedding until there was a conclusion to the murder trial, so she put it off. David was supportive and agreed with her completely. Jennifer and her mother were extremely close, and she is happy her mom met and approved of David before she died. But her heart is still broken that her mother never met her son, David Jr., who was born 10 months after the murders."
Jennifer is reportedly keen to tie the knot in her home town of Chicago, in tribute to her mother who will unfortunately not be present for one of the happiest day in her daughter's life.
"Having the wedding in Chicago is important because that’s her home and that’s what her mom would’ve wanted. It’s a private tribute from Jennifer to her mother," the insider added.
