Hayden Panettiere will play a young country music star on the rise in the new drama, Nashville, but she's denying rumors that her role is based on real-life country star Taylor Swift.
“I’ve heard the Taylor Swift thing quite a bit,” the actress, 22, said at the ABC panel for Nashville at the Television Critics Association summer tour in Beverly Hills on Friday. “And I think aside from being around the same age and blonde, not even height, I mean, very, very different.”
The former Heroes pint-sized star went on to explain her new role, “And I think you guys, once you see her and get to know Juliette, my character, a little better, you’ll see that. But I really think Taylor would disagree wholeheartedly as well. She’s much nicer than my character.”
To further support Panettiere, in the pilot of the ABC show, Juliette insults Rayna James, the crowned country queen portrayed by American Horror Story actress Connie Britton.
Nashville is set to premiere Oct. 19 on ABC.
