'The Hardest Word To Say Is Goodbye': Glee Fans Given First Look Of Cory Monteith's Tribute Episode

The hit FOX network show, Glee kicked off its fifth season last night in the US with fans seeing the return of their favourite characters including Kurt Hummel, Blaine and Santana.

As the episode went on and fans of the show found out whether or not Kurt got back together with Blaine or what happened in Rachel Berry's Funny Girl call back audition, the show's creator Ryan Murphy decided to release a preview of what is to come for the tribute episode dedicated to Cory Monteith.

Using Twitter, Ryan posted the image of Cory's face in black and white with the words: "The hardest word to say is 'goodbye'." The date for when the special tribute episode for the actor who tragically passed away in July, was also revealed with October 10 being the date where the episode will be aired.

Whilst details about the episode have been kept fairly secret, E! News reported an insider hinting that the tribute will be emotional: "You will cry from beginning to end."

Speaking about Cory's tribute episode and the reason why the cause of death for Cory's character Finn will not be included in the special, E! News reported Ryan saying recently:

"Basically, what we're doing in the episode is we are not telling you yet, or maybe not at all, how that character died.

"The idea being, how somebody died is interesting and maybe morbid, but we say very early on in the episode, 'This episode is about a celebration of that character's life.' That might be weird for some people, but it felt really exploitative to do it any other way."

Meanwhile, Jane Lynch who plays the role of Sue Sylvester recently told People magazine that Cory's death has been "brutal" on Lea. She said:

"I know it’s just been brutal for her [Lea] I never lost a boyfriend when I was 26 years old. I can’t tell her what her experience is. She’s a champion, and she is a rock star, and she is getting through this.”
