Russell Brand and Geri Halliwell may have a lot in common, but they made the ultimate click when they realized they were both living a sober life.
The comedian-turned-actor and the Ginger Spice have long put their drunken days in the past, which was the main motive why they coupled up, according to RadarOnline.com.
They both have experiences ending relationships for their party lifestyle: Russell, 37, didn’t have an easy time with his ex-wife Katy Perry’s party-hopping ways, and Geri, 40, split from her beau of two-years socialite Henry Beckwith for the same reason.
It appears the stars have aligned – and they’re now an ideal pairing for one another.
“Russell and Geri bonded over the fact that there’s more to life than drinking,” a source tells the website. “Back in the ‘90s the pair partied for England. Their drunken escapades were well documented and there wasn’t a day where they weren’t pictured staggering out of a hip London venue. But now they like nothing more than shunning the fancy clubs and bars."
But the entertainers have made a complete lifestyle change of 180 degrees in the past decade by living healthier lifestyles.
“They have cleaned up their lifestyles, both are avid Yogis and don’t touch a drop of alcohol,” the source explained. “Geri has her daughter Bluebell to consider, while Russell has been sober for almost 10 years and has risen to the top clean and knows if he did drink he would be right back where he started.”

And even though Russell was married to Perry for a year, the couple would rarely be seen out together at parties late at night.
“That was why it was so tough for him when he was married to Katy,” the source said. “He would avoid any after-parties because he didn’t want to be surrounded by people who were drinking around him. It was the same for Geri, her ex Henry wanted to continue partying and she was just desperate to settle down. That’s why they split.”
The new couple seem to now want the same things in life, and they couldn’t have gotten reacquainted at a better time.
“Russell and Geri are at the same place with their lives,” the source added. “And they want to settle and enjoy the fruits of their labor.”
