There appears to be no hard feelings between Eminem and Slane Castle as the rapper will be headlining the music event in 2013, seven years after pulling out of a performance at the Irish festival.

Days after he was announced as a headliner for the Reading & Leeds Festivals next year, Eminem has now been confirmed to play Slane Castle in August 2013, kicking off his European dates.

Confirming the news, Lord Henry Mountcharles said the organisers were "thrilled" that Eminem had signed on to headline the Dublin festival.

"In 2005 I said Eminem was a stunning artist. He is even more so today. I am thrilled he is going to play Slane," Lord Mountcharles said in a statement.

The news may come as a surprise as Eminem pulled out of performing at the festival in 2005, fuelling rumours that the rapper insisted he would never return to the event. Eminem will be playing Slane Castle on August 17 before heading to Reading & Leeds on the August Bank Holiday.

According to The Sun, bagging Eminem as the headliner probably wasn't an easy feat for Reading & Leeds organisers, who are reportedly paying the rapper more than £1 million.

Joining Eminem will be Mercury Music Prize winner Alt-J, grime collective Boy Better Know and Sub Focus, with more names expected to be announced in the coming months.

Tickets for Slane Castle will go on sale on December 19 at 9am.
