(BANG) -

Duchess Catherine visited the exhibition featuring her wedding dress at Buckingham Palace today (22.07.11).

The British royal - who married Prince William in a lavish ceremony at Westminster Abbey in April - had a sneak preview of the display with her husband's grandmother Queen Elizabeth before it officially opens to the public tomorrow (23.07.11).

The pair viewed Catherine's bridal gown, displayed in the palace's ballroom along with her veil, tiara, shoes, earrings and bouquet with the queen reportedly cracking a joke about the display, mounted on a headless mannequin, saying "Horrid, isn't it? Horrid and dreadful!"

The dress, designed by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen, is made of ivory and white satin and will be on display as part of the summer exhibition at the palace, which runs until October 3.

Speaking at the press view today, curator Caroline de Guitaut told BANG showbiz: "The items display British craftsmanship, British skill at its best."

The exhibition - which also offers visitors a glimpse into the state rooms of the palace including the throne room and music room- is expected to sell out with 125,000 people already buying advance tickets.
