Chris Fountain has admitted that he is unsure of his future on Coronation Street as ITV bosses haven't discussed renewing his contract, which runs out in February.

Chris, who plays mechanic Tommy Duckworth in the popular soap, has revealed that there have been no talks to discuss the end of his three-year contract, but insists that he'd love to stay on the cobbled streets of Weatherfield if he's given the opportunity.

The 25-year-old confessed to The Daily Star: "I’m contracted until February and then my three-year deal is up. We’ve not had any talks yet about what they have in store for me. I don’t know if they will keep me, I’ll have to wait and see but I would love to stay.”

The former Hollyoaks star also revealed that Michelle Keegan, who plays Chris' on-screen girlfriend Tina McIntyre and will be leaving the programme in March, has no idea what her exit-storylines are.

"I don’t have a clue what happens or how she leaves. I don’t think even Michelle knows. I imagine we will still be together when she leaves but whatever happens I’m sure she’s going to have an exciting and dramatic exit which hopefully I will be involved in.”

However, the Dancing On Ice star ruled out the idea that both of them would be killed off together.

"My contract runs out in February and I think Michelle’s is March, so I think if they were killing us both off together they would have already signed me up until March when Michelle leaves.”

But despite the uncertainty of his Corrie future, Chris insists that he is going to simply enjoy his time on the show while he can.

"I’m still loving the show. It’s such a good group of people and I’ve been rammed lately with some amazing storylines. Though I would quite like Tommy to maybe go off the rails again a bit, I like playing bad characters."
