It's all going right for One Direction, they have the girlfriends, the success in the USA, look set to earn $100m, and now it seems they are even getting to fly the flag for the UK at the closing ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics, with reports suggesting they will perform in front of one billion people.
The Daily Star Sunday has reported an insider as saying that Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson will perform on the stage alongside a thousand dancers in an incredible performance of their hit 'What Makes You Beautiful'.
A source is quoted as saying: "The main theme of the Olympic closing ceremony will be celebrating the best of British music, so it's only right that One Direction are opening the show. They are the UK's biggest music export at the moment behind Adele, who is also rumoured to be involved in some way. It's all top secret and the boys aren't allowed to talk about it but they are thrilled."
They reportedly added: "It isn't every day you get the instant exposure of performing in front of a billion people. One Direction are unstoppable at the moment. They have achieved many career highlights at such an early age but this is right up there. To perform in their home country's Olympic ceremony is like winning their very own gold medal."
For the boys national pride isn't the only reason to want a piece of Olympics, the gig would give them unmatched exposure in places like Asia, which they could look to conquer just as they have won over fans in the US.
