Rocker Dave Stewart has postponed his much-anticipated homecoming concert in Sunderland on Monday until next year.
The former Eurythmics star was expected to kick off his The Ringmaster Tour in his native city, playing his first show there in 44 years, but he has since announced plans to delay the whole trek until a later date due to "film commitments".
A spokesperson for the singer says, "Dave Stewart is bitterly disappointed not to be playing his first live shows in the U.K. for many years, which included a hometown gig at the Sunderland Empire on Monday 3 September, but anything less than 110 per cent focus on his show meant he felt he was doing his loyal fans a disservice.
"He assures fans the musical feast he has in store will more than make up for this brief postponement."
Stewart's management team is now looking to stage the rescheduled gig at the same venue in early 2013.
