Dappy certainly isn't the sharpest tool in the box and yet again he has let his brainlessness run away with him. In the earlier hours of this morning (July 6) the rapper apologised to the family of murdered headmaster Phillip Lawrence after protesting for the release of the killer in the new video for track, I'm Coming (Tarzan Part 2).
According to The Sun, he posted a tribute to Learco Chindamo in the opening credits of the new video which also sees him slam Simon Cowell and Alexandra Burke.
The opening of the video has the disclaimer “the views & opinions expressed in this video are those of the artist only” followed by a message reading "Free Leo Chindamo".
Chindamo, who went to the same school as Dappy, was just 15 when he murdered Mr Lawrence outside St George’s RC School back in 1995.
He served a total of 14 years for murder and was released on licence in July 2010. After only being free for a few months, Chindamo was then sent back to jail for four months after being arrested for an alleged mugging.
Chindamo is currently still in prison where he is serving the rest of his original life sentence for breaching terms of his licence.
Mr Lawrence's widow Frances spoke about Dappy's careless actions to The Sun: "I haven’t heard the song yet. But I don’t think it is right someone should be making money from using his name in a song."
After hearing the news Dappy took to Twitter to apologise for referencing Chindamo in the clip: "Just wanted to say I honestly wasn't aware he did that, I knew his brother from when I was young.
"In no way did I intend to cause any upset and certainly didn't know about his past. My heart goes out to Mr Laurence's (sic) family and I know the pain of losing a loved one, sincerely Daps."
The tweets have since been removed from Dappy's official account.
