Cook Like Mrs Patmore! Downton Abbey Announce Souvenir Crockery Range

Ever fancied hosting your very own Downton dinner party? How about whipping up one of Mrs Patmore's signature cakes? Well now fans of the show will be able to do all that using the show's own range of souvenir crockery!

The makers of the hit ITV series have announced plans to cash in on its success by launching a range of kitchen utensils and crockery bearing its branding. According to The Telegraph, Gareth Neame, producer of the series, revealed details of the plan in an American interview:

"We’re looking into merchandising. Homeware, crockery, pots and pans. Kitchen items. Merchandising takes time. It’s a slower burn but we’re not proud. We’re on message. We’ll even do household decorations like candlesticks.”

Unfortunately the merchandise will not include a range of action figures which is a shame but cooking enthusiasts will be able to pick up the kitchen souvenirs next year.

The range will coincide with the US airing of the third series of the show which arrived back on UK screens this autumn. It's not all good news in the Downton camp this week though, as show creator Julien Fellowes has been forced to speak out on the real life drama surrouding actor Dan Steven's rumoured exit.

Having left a question mark over whether or not he'll be return to play Matthew Crawley, Dan told the Mail Online earlier this year: "New York for me is going to be one big adventure. I will be taking the whole family out and we will be there for six months. I don’t know if I will be returning to Downton."

Commenting on the possibility of Dan not returning to the show, reports Julian as saying: "Sometimes actors feel they want to move on. Initially, for the first two or three [seasons] you can contract them, but after that, every season, you have to re-contract them. If they don’t want to come back, there’s nothing we can do.”
