Comeback kings Black Sabbath & Soundgarden help close Download Festival

Black Sabbath closed the 10th annual Download Festival on Sunday night with a career-spanning set of their greatest hits.

Ozzy Osbourne and his band took to the stage at Donington Park for one of their biggest gigs following their comeback last month.

They thrilled hordes of rock fans as they performed their most-loved classics, including Black Sabbath, War Pigs, Dirty Women and Paranoid.

Osbourne, who played harmonica during parts of the set, took time out from singing to honour his bandmate Tony Iommi, who has been battling cancer.

The frontman told fans, "The guy on the stage I've known for most of my life, and he's one of the strongest guys I know. Let's hear it for Mr Tony Iommi."

The rock legends took to the stage after Soundgarden, who performed their first UK show in 15 years.

The grunge icons played a set mixed with hits and new tunes, while frontman Chris Cornell took a moment to honour Black Sabbath, recalling buying their Paranoid album when he was 12 and how it changed his life.
