'Bridesmaids' Star Kristen Wiig Set For 'Anchorman: The Legend Continues'

6 December 2012

'Bridesmaids' star Kristen Wiig is set for a role in 'Anchorman' sequel 'The Legend Continues', according to reports.

Wiig would star opposite Steve Carell, playing his character, the nervous weatherman Brick's love interest.

The original cast are all returning, with Will Ferrell set to reprise his role as legendary newsman Ron Burgundy alongside Paul Rudd and Christina Applegate.

Like many of Hollywood's top comics Wiig cut her teeth on the TV show Saturday Night Live before transferring to movies with her hit 2011 comedy 'Bridesmaids', often branded the female equivalent to 'The Hangover' films.

According to The Wrap, negotiations with Wiig are ongoing, with a view to her taking a role in the movie. However a script is yet to be finalised and characters outside the principal ones are yet to be decided.

Wiig is one of Hollywood's most in demand names at the moment, teaming up with Ben Stiller for 'The Secret Life of Walter Mitty' and Guy Pearce in 'Hateship Friendship'.

'Anchorman: The Legend Continues' is set for release in October 2013.
