Bette Midler still waiting for Glee call

Bette Midler is still waiting for a call from Ryan Murphy after he publicly offered her a role on Glee earlier this year.

The director/producer was honoured at an awards show in New York in October, and he used his speech to ask the singer/actress to sign up for the hit musical TV show.

In a subsequent post on his Twitter.com page, he wrote, "Bette said yes! Amazing. I am plotting... who should she play?"

Midler also tweeted about his proposal, suggesting she would be willing to play the grandmother of Lea Michele's character Rachel Berry, adding, "Ryan Murphy invited me to guest on Glee! I should get out more!! Ok... I have one vote for Rachel's grandmother... hmmmm. I'm thinking, I'm thinking!!"

However, Midler has now revealed she is no nearer to landing a role on the show as Murphy has failed to get in touch with her.

She tells Access Hollywood, "I don't know (if it will happen). (Murphy) never called me. He mentioned it, but... I'm still waiting for the call. But, it's fine!"
