Yep, users logging on to Twitter to see what Zayn has been up to will get a shock when they are greeted with the standard 'Sorry that user no longer exists'.

We know we were shocked when we logged on and saw that pop up!

Zayn had over five million followers including millions of his beloved Directioners for whom this was one of their only ways to talk to the pop star directly.

It's believed that Zayn was subject to daily nasty comments about him and his girlfriend Little Mix's, Perrie Edwards.

For Zayn, they became too much and he has decided to close his account.

He deleted the account late last night following two warning messages saying what he was planning.

The star posted: "The reason i don't tweet as much as i use to, is because I'm sick of all the useless opinions and hate that I get daily goodbye twitter.

"Fans that have something to say can tweet me on the one direction account."

Earlier that day, he tweeted as normal saying he was 'soo tired' and ready for bed.

However, he does have 30 days to change his mind and reactivate his account. Miley Cyrus deleted hers back in 2009 however, after reactivating is one of celeb land's most prolific tweeters.

As Miley regularly points out — the block button can work wonders!

One man whose probably blocked a few people this morning is Perez Hilton.

Perez infuriated the Directioners when he reported the news, daring to suggest Zayn might leave the band and Zayn deleting his Twitter is just the beginning.

Perez said: "Zayn DELETES his Twitter! Called it! I said he'd be the first to leave 1D! This is the beginning!"

To which the Directioners replied with countless messages telling Perez just what they think of his 'news'.

And no, they weren't best pleased.
