We hope this doesn’t spark a Steve Brookstein-esque X Factor meltdown.
Nicholas McDonald has said that he feels betrayed by Louis Walsh and Gary Barlow after his treatment at the final.
Well, Louis did pretty much ditch him at the final hurdle so we are hardly surprised.
Louis shocked us all on Saturday night when he urged viewers to vote for Sam over the act he has mentored throughout the series – Nicholas.
“I was disappointed with Louis saying, "Vote for Sam and her single everyone." It felt like Sam was getting all the love” Nick says.
Plus, Nicholas feels like he wasn’t liked by Gary Barlow ‘throughout’ especially after he was the only judge to not give him a standing ovation after his performance on Saturday.
“Gary had a problem with me throughout the whole show. He never seemed to like me and whenever I gave a good performance he would pick up on the smallest things in the world.”
Indeed on Saturday Gary was the only judge to give Nicholas negative criticism, saying he wasn’t sure if he chose the correct song.
“On a night like tonight it is all about showcasing your strengths and I just didn’t think that song showcased your voice,” he said.
X Factor bosses have also confirmed that Nicholas was one of the contestants who did not attend Barlow’s star-studded after-show party at the Dorchester hotel.
Or maybe that’s just because he is 16 so couldn’t get in?!
As well as Nicholas, his Mum also chipped in (cringe), saying: “It was completely unprofessional, Gary refusing to stand after Nicholas’s song.”
Or maybe, as a judge, he just didn’t think it was worth a standing ovation?
And Ma McDonald isn’t impressed with Louis either…
“As for Louis, I don’t know what that was about and it was rude of him”, she says.
“He should have been backing his own act and not encouraging the public to vote for their opponent”.
“I think Louis just speaks without thinking sometimes.”
Well, at least we can agree with her on that.
