But according to The Wanted's Max George, the One Direction boys avoided them when they were both in America at the same time.
Speaking to us at the Capital FM Jingle Bell Ball we asked them if they made friends.
Tom said: "Not quite. They're very well protected."
While Max, who was the one who'd got himself involved in a Twitter spat with Zayn Malik, told us: "We didn't see them.
"They were very quick to be in and out to be honest which was a shame because we wanted to but I'm sure we'll cross paths again some time."
Either that or they were too busy focusing on the ladies in their lives to be bothered getting their boxing gloves out.
Max did get a little dig in, telling us: "We try not to react too much to silly little petty banter like that."
Oooo careful, you'll start the whole hullabaloo up again, Max.
And by the sounds of things, The Wanted lads were too busy getting drunk with Ed Sheeran and Lindsay Lohan to be bothered with the 1D feud.
They told us: "We met her on a night out and she was really cool and she came on the tour bus with us and Ed Sheeran and we had one big messy week.
Asked if he snogged LiLo Max avoided the question for a while by joking that he and Ed were getting it on "big time" before telling us that they are JUST FRIENDS.
