The Rolling Stones confirmed to headline Glastonbury, Rita Ora, Professor Green and Dizzee Rascal among the other acts to play

The Rolling Stones have been confirmed as the headline act for this year’sGlastonbury festival.

This will be the first time that the legendary British rockers have playedthe festival which takes place over the summer between 28 and the 30 June.

After the news was confirmed, Mick Jagger took to Twitter to share his excitement.

He wrote: "Can't wait to play Glastonbury. I have my wellies and myyurt!"

Band guitarist Keith Richards also tweeted, writing: "Weall had such a ball last year, and the energy between the band is so good. Wecan't wait to play Glastonbury, see you on a summer's day in England!"

It is reported that the band, who recently reformed after a six-year-hiatus,were offered £1 million to play to festival.

Speaking recently of the iconic festival Jagger said: "Glastonbury isvery important. It seems to be very important to my children - highlight oftheir year."

Other acts who have been confirmed to perform this yearinclude Rita Ora, recently engaged Professor Green and Dizzee Rascal.

One Direction super fan Jake Bugg will be making his debutat the festival – no doubt he’ll have a few choice words for the boys at somepoint during his set – alongside Mercury award winners Alt J.
