Sinitta wants to recruit One Direction as her Toyboy backing dancers

Sinitta says she wants One Direction to be her 'Toyboy' backing dancers at a one-off pop extravaganza next month.

The singer, who had a string of Top 10 hits in the 80s before going on to join Simon Cowell on 'The X Factor', said the One Direction boys would be perfect to dance with her at the Hit Factory Live concert on 11 July.

Sinitta told us exclusively: "They'd be great for 'Toyboy'. That would be amazing. It's a great idea - I think we should campaign for that."

Perhaps the boys will take her up on the offer? After all Sinitta helped Simon Cowell make the decision to put them through to the 'X Factor' finals during the Judges' Houses stage in 2010.

She also told us she's really proud to see One Direction become so successful in the US.

She said: "I knew they'd be massive here but I hadn't really thought about America to be honest so to suddenly realise that they had the biggest-ever group debut is surreal.  I'm so happy for them.

"I totally get it and understand why America has gone crazy for them. There's something for everyone in the line-up. Their songs are catchy, they look great. They're clean cut. They're gorgeous and they can all sing."

If One Direction don't show up for the Hit Factory Live concert, which also features Kylie and Jason reuniting to sing 'Especially For You', then Sinitta has a back-up plan - she's holding open auditions for backing dancers in London.

"All the toyboys and the macho men who used to work with me have scattered now. I need new boys, I need new men!" Er, can we come along and watch the auditions Sinitta?

Hit Factory Live is on 11 July in London's Hyde Park
