Simon Cowell has apparently demanded that the X Factor age ranges be changed in order to allow more people in their late twenties to be in with a shot.

The X Factor age limits for the Boys, Girls and Groups categories have all been upped from 25 to 28 - and there will also be a new category - the Over 28s.

A source said: "Lots of girls and boys in their late twenties auditioned but there was no room for them because the Over-25s category had to have the quirky older ones in it to make it work."

And this year there are again loads of amazing performers who are older than 25 but younger than 28.

"There is no way show bosses will make the same mistake again, so the age limits have changed."

It's not the only change to the show this series - the judging panel has a new addition, with Nicole Scherzinger replacing Kelly Rowland.

We now cannot wait for the new series of The X Factor to start.
