Well this is unfortunate.

has revealed that he has been refused entry into South Africa not once but twice by authorities.

The 38-year-old comedian was due to perform his stand up show Messiah Complex in Johannesburg last night but was forced to cancel after he ran into problems getting into the country.

Taking to Twitter on Friday night,  the comedian apologised to his fans for the cancellation.

He wrote: “Tonight's J-burg show cancelled. SA authorities REFUSE TO LET ME INTO YOUR COUNTRY. Trying to resolve it.”

Russell’s publicist revealed that the reason behind his not being allowed in was due to the fact that “he did not have two free pages in his passport.”

Things then seemed to resolve themselves later that evening, with Russell returning to Twitter with good news.

He posted: “South Africa! I'm allowed in! AUTHORITY YIELDED TO YOUR PEOPLE POWER! I'll be on stage tomorrow night in J-Burg #MessiahComplex”

Unfortunately, Russ’ elation was short lived after the South African authorities changed their minds yet again.

An upset Russell then posted a picture of himself in the airport, alongside the caption: “Banned from South Africa. Here ready to go. Refused entry. Hope I can come soon #MessiahComplex.”

Organisers of the show are now trying to reschedule the performance to next week while Russell tries to resolve his travel issues.
