The Royal Variety: One Direction and Girls Aloud leave Prince Phillip less than impressed

Last night the best in pop put on a very special performance, namely The Royal Variety performance in front of just that: royalty!

Well, the clue is in the name.

The Queen and Prince Phillip were treated to performances from the likes of the newly reformed Girls Aloud and the hottest boy band on the planet, One Direction.

Lucky old Queeney and Pip, or what?!

Girls Aloud took to the stage in black sequined fishtail gowns and performed The Promise while One D performed their new single Little Things.

The Queen must almost definitely know all the words to most of the One D album now.

What with the Jubilee, the Olympic Opening Ceremony and now this, Ma'am has been to more One D gigs than us!

Still, it would seem that old Prince Phillip wasn't as impressed with their performances as one would have hoped.

In classic Prince Pip style, he managed to put his foot in his mouth once again and was overheard saying: "I never heard a thing, we're so stone deaf!"

Still, Harry Styles seemed chuffed enough with his Royal meeting and tweeted: 'Tonight I met the Queen'.

We wonder if The Queen wrote in her diary: 'Tonight, one met Harry Styles. Lovely hair'?

The show will be on telly on December 3rd and we don't know about you, but we can't wait!
