Mel B joined the X Factor panel at the Manchester auditions and made quite the impression.

Scary Spice Mel was reportedly booed by audience members at the X Factor auditions on Tuesday after she apparently insulted an 81-year-old auditionee, DigitalSpy reports.

Lou, a widower from Birmingham, is said to have opened his X Factor audition by telling Tulisa Contostavlos he was "available".

Tulisa said Lou's performance "pulled at my heart strings" but Mel B said: "I wanted to fall asleep". Cue angry reaction from X Factor crowd. Eek.

Mel B did show her softer side, however, when she comforted a woman who cried following her audition.

Gary Barlow was back with the panel after taking time out for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Concert on Monday.

Louis Walsh called him "Sir Gary" all day and the audience saluted Gary Barlow when 'Rule Britannia' was played, with some shouting: "Get Gary knighted".

Following Gary Barlow's massive efforts in arranging the Jubilee Concert and recording the single 'Sing' after travelling the Commonwealth, we reckon he might just get a new title.

Now that would really annoy Gary's X Factor head judge predecessor Simon Cowell.
