Lucy Spraggan has revealed that she refused to change for the X Factor during her time on the show.

Lucy Spraggan has revealed she refused to anything she didn't want to do while on The X Factor. Copyright [Wen …The quirky singer/songwriter had a distinct sound when she auditioned for the talent show, something that remained a constant week-on-week.

Speaking exclusively to Yahoo! omg! Lucy admits that this only happened because she stood her ground with producers which she believes has put her in the position she is in today.

She told us: “I went on it [The X Factor] and refused to do anything I didn’t want to - now I’m signed to Columbia records and have my debut single coming out.”

As for what she thinks of the show, Lucy praises it for allowing singers another way into the music industry.

She explained: “I still think it’s good. Go on it if you have something new to give people.

“Some people say it’s ruining the music industry. I just see it as another way to get into the music industry.

“It’s pretty do-eat-dog anyway, if people say that they love music more than anything in the world and would do anything to get their dream but then say they would never go on it's kinda ridiculous.”

Lucy Spraggan believes The X Factor is simply another way to get into the tough music industry. Copyright [Rex …Speaking about how she would describe her sound, Lucy has coined a new genre – much to her promotional team’s annoyance.

"To my PR team’s dismay I describe my sound as AFLOP! Acoustic, folk, hip-hop,” she said.

“Of course flop isn’t the most fabulous thing to have next to your debut single or album!

“Not hip-hop in the way that there is a beat . Hip-hop in a way that lyrically is quite honest and observational.”

This week Lucy released her new single ‘Lighthouse’ which she revealed was written following her time on The X Factor.

“Lighthouse is a song I wrote after I came off the show,” Lucy explained.

“There’s a lyric in it that’s ‘back where the streets are paved with stone’.

“It’s kind of like you come off something like the X Factor where it’s paved with gold and very glitzy and glamorous – which it’s not, it just looks like that – and sometimes you just want to go home and chill out and go to the pub.”

Lighthouse is available to download now.
