Katherine Jenkins signs up to Dancing With the Stars, Piers Morgan offers advice

Katherine Jenkins is ready to crack America once and for all, as the opera singer has signed up to Dancing With the Stars, the US's version of Strictly Come Dancing.

The Welsh singer is one of 12 contestants on the show, announced on Good Morning America.

She'll be competing against tennis legend Martina Navratilova, fellow singers Gladys Knight and Gavin DeGraw, actors Jack Wagner, Melissa Gilbert and Jaleel White, presenters Sherri Shepherd and Maria Menounos, sportsman Donald Driver, Disney star Roshon Fegan and model William Levy.

Katherine follows in the footsteps of other British stars to try their luck on the ABC show, including Heather Mills and Kelly Osbourne.

It's not the first time Katherine's been on the set, as she performed on Dancing With the Stars in February 2011. She also danced with Darcey Bussell on stage in 2009 in Viva La Diva.

Katherine tweeted yesterday: "Hope I can call on you for your support... Think I'm gonna need it!"

She received support from a fellow Brit abroad, Piers Morgan, and retweeted his message: "Haha! RT @piersmorgan: Congrats to @KathJenkins on the @DancingABC gig - if you need some tips, you know where I am... #MagicFeetMorgan"

Katherine's prepping for training, tweeting this morning: "So now I have a spare day to prepare myself for DWTS & for my first day of training with @MarkBallas #anyoneknowagoodfootmasseuse"

Katherine's spokesman said: "She's very excited to be taking part."

The show stars on 19 March, with the first elimination on 27 March. Good luck Katherine!
