Joey Essex on TOWIE series seven minus Lauren Goodger

The TOWIE series finale is just hours away and while we recover from today's news that Lauren Goodger is leaving the hit ITV2 show, Joey Essex assures us the show will go on!

We spoke to Joey Essex about his predictions for the future of the show — he told us:

"I'm not sure to be fair, we're contracted to a series each time, but TOWIE is getting the viewers.

"People like watching it and are enjoying it, it's a great programme, I even enjoy watching it."

We bet he does!

While on the topic of TOWIE we also asked the reality TV star how he thought his pals Diags and Tom Pearce were getting on — and it sounds like he's missing them…

Joey added: "It's fun [working with Tom and Diags] but it's different between us now, we're all doing the same thing but we don't get to see each other as much."

A role on TOWIE means instant fame for the cast, but Joey believes it's easier for the newer members than it was for him:

"When I come on the show, it had a lot more power. In the first and second series we just shot up in fame very quickly but now [the fame] bit is easier to deal with.

"[Tom and Diags] are low key characters and they're getting on well and dealing with it [fame] nicely."

The TOWIE season finale airs tonight on ITV2
