Jamie Oliver comes under fire for weight gain, we say leave him alone!

Jamie Oliver has come under fire for gaining weight recently, but we think he should be left alone.

The TV chef and healthy eating campaigner is currently in Melbourne where he is launching a Ministry of Food.

Taking to the stage to discuss his latest venture, commentators were quick to suggest that Jamie had been indulging a little too much in some of the junk food he's trying to warn people off.

However, we think he should be given a break. Not only has Jamie worked hard to change eating habits across the world, he also runs a whole host of restaurants.

Jamie Oliver has been slammed for gaining weight / GettyAdded to that the fact he's also dad to four children, we think he probably has rather  a lot on his plate. Pardon the pun.

Jamie himself admitted that he has put on weight, but that generally he's healthy: "I am very healthy. I think the last time I had a filling in my teeth, which was quite recently, I was in good nick"

"I do my best," he continued. "Working in the food business is quite hard when someone is constantly asking you to try things," he said. "I eat fresh, I train twice a week. I could definitely do better, but I am trying to do my best like most people when they hit 30."

Jamie's latest scheme in Australia involves putting millions of dollars towards teaching people about cooking techniques and nutrition.

Jamie said of the project: "I don't really know of anyone that can threaten of an early death by not doing their geography homework.

"But if kids aren't taught about food, where it comes from and how it affects their body, then in essence we are doing them a massive disservice."
