The 22-year-old actress told Vanity Fair Italy that she believes ‘everyone makes mistakes’.
She explained: “Kristen is human, just like everybody else, and she's so young. Everyone makes mistakes, everyone.
“It's not fair to consider them matters of public interest. On one hand, I can understand why it happened: people felt really involved in her relationship with Robert Pattinson.
“But it's also true that they both have done everything in their power to keep their relationship as far from the public eye as possible."
Emma previously starred in ‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire’ alongside Pattinson in 2005.
Continuing to defend Kristen’s actions, Emma admitted that just because the Twilight actress is rich and famous, doesn’t mean she has an easier life like many people would think.
She said: : “People think that that being rich and famous is like being covered in some kind of magic powder that makes life perfect: Nothing can go wrong in your wonderful world.
“For these people, Kristen deserves all the bad things that have been thrown at her because she had an amazing life and she ruined it."
It was rumored yesterday that during their brief break up last year, Rob engaged in a fling with a part time model and waitress.
The two since reconciled their relationship, however, speculation that the two have now split has been rife all week.
