The Moonrise Kingdom premiere was all about red carpet glamour, with Diane Kruger donning a draped Giambattista Valli gown in a gorgeous aqua.

Eva Longoria went with the wow factor too in her Marchesa dress complete with tulle train.

Other celebs went slightly more minimalist but were still making statements with their fashion.

Freida Pinto wore a Michael Angel dress which featured the style du jour — a thigh-high split.

Tilda Swinton went for bronze with her satin gown, while Eva Herzigova sparkled in her pale floor-length number at the Palais des Festivals.

Lana Del Rey kept things relatively simple in her black dress at the opening ceremony.

It was then time for an outfit change before Cannes Film Festival opening night dinner.

Eva Longoria went for something less difficult to move around in and wore a black dress with on-trend sheer panels. Very wise, seeing as she'd have to sit at a table for the evening.

Freida Pinto also opted for black and sheer, and once again gave a flash of leg thanks to a thigh split.

It was the turn of Berenice Bejo to go for all out glamour in her flowing red dress, while Tilda Swinton got into her signature look with a trouser suit.

Stay tuned for even more gorgeousness over the next two weeks of Cannes Film Festival.
