Demi Moore rushed to hospital with exhaustion, pulls out of Lovelace amid anorexia and nitrous oxide rumours

Rumours are circulating about the reason behind Demi Moore’s hospitalisation in Los Angeles on Monday, with claims she is being treated for anorexia, and allegations she inhaled nitrous oxide.

A source told Radar Online: "She collapsed after having an epileptic seizure.

"Demi is in getting treated for anorexia, as well as other issues that caused her seizure. She has not taken care of her health at all lately and has lost a ton of weight."

A source told TMZ Demi’s friend allegedly told emergency workers the actress was doing ‘whip-its,’ which is a type of nitrous oxide inhalant, and fell into semi-consciousness.

We've been concerned about Demi since she split from Ashton Kutcher, so we're relieved the actress is now seeking professional help after being rushed to hospital in Los Angeles on Monday.

A 911 call was made from Demi's LA home at 10.45pm on Monday, and paramedics assessed the 49-year-old for half an hour before transporting her to hospital, TMZ reports.

Her rep released a statement saying: "Because of the stresses in her life right now, Demi has chosen to seek professional assistance to treat her exhaustion and improve her overall health.  She looks forward to getting well and is grateful for the support of her family and friends."

Demi's treatment is allegedly for substance abuse, sources have told TMZ and it's also claimed she is being treated for anorexia.

A source told E! News Demi was "shaking" and "acting like she was suffering from a seizure."

TMZ also reports Demi has pulled out of her upcoming film, Lovelace, a biopic about porn star Linda Lovelace in which Demi had been cast as feminist Gloria Steinem.

There have been concerns about Demi's frail frame since her separation from husband of six years, Ashton last November following allegations the actor had cheated on his wife with Sara Leal.

In an interview for Harper's Bazaar US' February issue, Demi spoke about her weight loss.

She said: "I sit today in a place of greater acceptance of my body and that includes not just my weight but all of the things that come with your changing body as you as age to now experiencing my body as extremely thin. Thin in a way that I never imagined somebody would be saying to me, 'You're too thin, and you don't look good.'"

Her last public appearance was with her daughter, Rumer at Cinema For Peace's event benefitting J/P Haitian Relief at the Montage Hotel Beverly Hills on January 14.
